A wireless router is a device that performs the functions of a router but also includes the functions of a wireless access point. It is commonly used to allow access to the Internet or a computer network without the need for a cabled connection.

A networking device that is a combination of an access point and a router. These devices are usually used in private homes where client PCs can be anywhere in the house (and thus use WiFi to connect), and the network is a broadband connection provided by an ISP.

Wireless routers are actually routers with Ethernet plus wireless access points so that they have both wired and/or wireless at the same time.

The RCA RC920 wireless phone jack extension is an accessory to the RCA RC926 wireless phone jack, the GE926, and the D916. This compact extension unit converts your existing electrical outlet into a phone jack, without the need for tools or wiring.
If you have already installed a compatible wireless phone jack system in your home or office, simply plug in the RC920 extension into your wall outlet to automatically create another phone jack. A green LED on the side of the unit indicates that it is functioning normally. A reset button lets you change the location of the phone jack or switch phones.
The RC920 features built-in surge suppression and is ideal for placing a phone anywhere an extension phone jack is not readily available. The RC920 is compatible with corded and cordless phones, answering machines, fax machines, and computer modems. It also support call forwarding, call waiting, three-way calling, conference calling, and speed dialing.

home network question

My condo is wired with cat5 throughout. I want to avoid doing a wireless home network and instead do a wired network. In one of my closets I have this network terminal block. I've figured out which of the terminals is connected to which outlet in which room.

I plan on putting my cable/DSL modem in the second bedroom and I'd like to share this internet connection with the rest of the condo. I have a pretty good idea that I will plug my modem into one of the room outlets, then I can hook up a router or a switch in this closet.

Question 1: Do I need a router or a switch?

Question 2: I have multiple devices in the living room that need the Internet. Assuming I get a router/switch in the closet so that the Internet connection coming from the second bedroom can be shared with the one outlet in the living room. Can I hook up another router/switch to the living room's outlet? In other words, can I conect a router/switch to another router/switch?
